First announcement

Dear all,

The 4th Workshop on Organic Matter Spectroscopy, WOMS18 will take place on the Porquerolles Island (near Hyères, France) from 23 to 27 October 2018. The WOMS event focuses on the fluorescence spectroscopy analysis of organic matter in the environnement. The scope of the workshop covers both fundamental (advanced signal processing techniques & data analysis) and practical aspects. The challenge is to better connect users needs for environmental applications and to better define the contours of the future developpements and forthcoming advances.

This year the WOMS18 will be organized during 3 days around the following sessions :

Session 1 EEM treatment :

Processing of fluorescence raw data, inter-calibration between instruments/methods, inner filter effect corrections, chemometric, PARAFAC in environment, quantification of fluorophores or chemicals.

Session 2 In situ EEMs :

In situ/on line fluorescence measurements and applications, data treatment, methodology, environmental applications

Session 3 : EEMs and tensors :

Multiway analysis of fluorescence data, algorithms for tensor decompositions

Session 4 : EEMs and future

Solids, particles and EEMs, applications, specific data treatment, physical theory, laser and time resolved fluorescence

Guest speakers will be proposed by Mostofa KHAN (Tianjin University, China), Oliver ZIELINSKI (ICBM, Germany), David BRIE (CRAN, France)), Debora MILORI (EMBRAPA, Brasil). Following each conference 20’ talks will be proposed before spliting participants in working sessions with more specific speed talks (10’) . You can candidate for both talk and speed talk. Poster sessions are planned each afternoon. A best poster prize will be awarded at the end of the workshop.

Exhibition booth will be available with manufacturers in the spectroscopy domain (list will be published soon)

This year a PARAFAC contest will be performed. The candidates will have to blindly process various fluorescence data and results will be presented and discussed.

Schedule the following date to actively participate to the EEM/PARAFAC development :

1) February 2018 First Call

2) April 2nd - Last Call – Deadline for submission and contest application

3) June 4th – Talk, speed Talk and Poster selection by the scientific committee

4) Deadline for online inscription - 22 August

5) 23th to 27th October 2018 – WOMS2018

6) December 2018 Proceeding / Recommendation Book or Special Issue Submission Deadline

Be careful, this year the number of inscription is limited to 100
